Be a YMCA Crewe trustee…be a part of creating new futures
YMCA Crewe is at the forefront of providing services that create new futures for children, young people and adults in South Cheshire.
To strengthen the work of YMCA Crewe, we are seeking volunteers who are inspired by the culture, ethos and approach of the Association, to join our Board of Trustees.
At YMCA Crewe we have three core service areas:
THE FOYER, which combines accommodation with an asset-based approach called GLOscape (Growth Life Opportunity), a comprehensive offer around health, employability and life skills. Every year we work with over 120 young people experiencing homelessness.
DESTINATIONS is the beginning of the end of the homeless experience – a pathway to settled accommodation for people sleeping rough, with floating support for those at risk of losing their tenancy or needing help settling in.
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES has a growing network of after school clubs, youth outreach and street sports across Crewe.
We are keen to grow our team of Trustees as they play an important role in leadership, setting the strategic direction of the organisation and agreeing policy.
New Trustees would be joining a Board containing a wide range of skills, experience and knowledge but there is always room for more diversity. We have shared below some examples where new members could add value to our leadership, but the list is not exhaustive:
The Trustees support a CEO and senior management team to effectively utilise resources of £1.5m every year, through 50 highly motivated and skilled staff (plus many volunteers). We are a key provider of services in the region and part of the worldwide Christian YMCA movement.
Board meetings are held on six evenings over a year and Trustees are asked to support the Association at other times by agreement. The role is voluntary.
