The community housing operations builds on YMCA Crewe’s success as a provider of floating support to provide a preventative service to homeless single people and support to families. The service encompasses the management of the YMCAs move on properties in the community, securing settled accommodation wherever possible for people who are presenting as homeless, the coordination of the Cheshire East Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP) the MySpace private sector floating support service (ages 18 – 35 years) and a family support service

MySpace staff can offer support and advice to landlords regarding rent bond guarantees, property matching, Housing Benefit and information on property standards and repairs, along with accreditation.

Family Support

The aim of the service is to enable families to gain skills which are essential to independent living and to tenancy sustainment. We have developed strong working links with the local services families require in order to make progress with health, education, training, employment.

The Children and Families Co-ordinator provides intensive initial and ongoing lead professional support to families, including those who are threatened with homelessness and enabling them to stay in their own homes. This includes working with households to help them budget, develop cooking and housekeeping and other skills.
